Mendon Mountain Orchards was recently designated as a "Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State" by the Vermont Business Environmental Partnership.

The Partnership is a voluntary, technical assistance and business recognition program sponsored by the Environmental Assistance Division of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources and the Vermont Small Business Development Center.

Mendon Mountain Orchards and Motel was recognized for our long-standing commitment to the environment and our new environmental initiatives.

As part of the Environmental Partnership, we have supplemented our existing environmental practices with new initiatives to further reduce waste and improve resource efficiency. Some of our new initiatives include the installation of water-saving showerheads, at-room recycling bins, and a towel reuse option for motel guests. We also use compact fluorescent lighting where possible as well as "green" cleaning supplies.

Mendon Mountain Orchards has had a long association with the State of Vermont's Integrated Pest Management Program. In the Orchard, we employ low spray practices, use mouse guards to protect young trees (instead of mouse bait as many orchards do), and utilize bar soap as a natural deer repellent (try this in your own garden!).
